Punxsutawney Phil predicts six more weeks of winter by seeing his shadow on Groundhog Day.

Scientifically, winter will end on the March 20 equinox.

Phil's predictions are followed by the US every year, despite having no meteorology degree.

Phil's accuracy rate is 40% over the past 10 years.

The temperature outlook for February through April 2023 calls for above normal temperatures in the eastern and southern US and below normal temperatures in the northwestern US.

Phil and his group at Gobbler's Knob have been predicting seasons since 1887.

Despite Phil's mixed track record, his fans still hold him in high regard.

Phil's full title is "Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, and Weather Prophet Extraordinary."

Other states also have their own groundhog weather watchers, with unique names.

If you don't like Phil's forecast, one of the other groundhogs might predict something more to your liking.
